Are HTLV-II-seropositive injection drug users at increased risk of bacterial pneumonia, abscess, and lymphadenopathy?

The authors inquire as to whether or not HTLV-II positive injection drug users have a higher risk rate than others of diseases and infections. They reviewed the medical records of 124 patients and found a higher rate of infection, but whether that is attributable to HTLV-II and injecting drug use needs more study.
