Abstract

The magnetoresistance properties of a damaged La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 (LCMO) was investigated by processing an LCMO alloy through a low-temperature solid state reaction in a high-energy ball mill. A paramagnetic-to-ferromagnetic transition at 150 K was demonstrated by the alloy, although suppression of the insulator-to-metal transition was also found. The suppression is believed to be a consequence of anion defects.
