Abstract

Profits for most of the companies which comprise the foreign electronics and entertainment industry have been hampered by unfavorable exchange rates in 1999, but there is strength in the semiconductor area. Sales of digital video disk and similar products have resumed their upward rend after a post-holiday drop, and this is expected to continue in the future. These stocks are not timely in 1999 and have little long-term appeal for investors, except on a selective basis, for the nest three to five years.
