The development and calibration of a Lowry model with multiple market segments

A three-part calibration is presented for analyzing interrelationships between population and employment, using Hong Kong as an example. The three phases include a genetic algorithm to calculate employment and population potentials, a multivariate stepwise regression analysis to examine these potentials with land-use variables, and model adjustments to reduce discrepancies between modeled and observed outcomes.
