Abstract
- Proactive and very targeted dissemination of the AHTAC policy announced by the Australian Commonwealth Health Minister in 1996 is important based on a study of attitudes and use of tests on the part of general practitioners to detect early prostate cancer. Questionnaires filled out by 855 participants were considered. Fewer than 8% of respondents said they did not recommend screening. Awareness of relevant guidelines was low.
