Photoinduced hydrogen atom transfer in salicylic acid derivatives used as matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) matrices

Research designed to obtain an improved insight into the photochemical and photophysical properties of salicylic acid derivatives in solution is presented. There is evidence for a reversible intramolecular rearrangement in the excited state in polar and apolar aprotic solvents.
