Abstract: Results show that cpsIaH and cpsIIIH genes encode Ia and III capsular polysaccharide polymerases respectively, leading to the synthesis of type-specific capsular polysaccharides. Data point out that these polysaccharides aid in host immune defence mechanism in Streptococcus agalactiae.
