Abstract: The yeast SUB2/yUAP56 gene roles in splicing are discussed in this research communication. The Schizosaccharomyces pombe ortholog of the UAP56 gene by heterologous complementation of a combined PRP40HA(sub.3)/nam 8(Delta) defect in budding yeast has been isolated. It was found that SUB2 participates in splicing in vivo and in vitro. U2snRNP likely has a role in events before prespiceosome formation.
