Abstract

A subcutaneous injection of the first 34 amino acids of parathyroid hormone can increase bone density and prevent fractures in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis, according to a study of 1,637 women. A daily 20-microgram dose was as effective as a 40-microgram dose and had fewer side effects.
