Abstract

Research demonstrates hemN-like gene (hemN) 1 and 2 in Bradyrhizobium japonicum involved in the heme biosynthesis in bacteria. Mutants of only hemN1 gene are able to grow anaerobically under nitrate-respiring conditions and fix nitrogen in symbiotic association with soybean.
