Quantitation of the capacity of the secretion apparatus and requirement for PrsA in growth and secretion of alpha-amylase in Bacillus subtilis

Results demonstrate the dependency of alpha-amylase secretion and proper protein folding on the cellular concentration of the lipoprotein PrsA in Bacillus subtilis. Data further sugest that PrsA is required for cell viability and its depletion leads to altered cellular morphology and cell death.
