Abstract: Research has been conducted on the short chain dehtydrogenase/reductases that mediate naphthol reduction reactions in the biosynthesis of fungal melanin. Results indicate that the C-terminal residues of the two naphthol reductases are the inhibitor and substrate specificity determinants.
