Abstract

CD-ROM technology offers an excellent medium for the storage of large amounts of information in an economical space and quick access and cross referencing of information. There are four stages of CD-ROM production: data preparation, pre-mastering, mastering, and replication. CD-ROM technology will be the basis of the third generation of personal computer use. CD-ROM technology will supplement graphics support with audio and video material. Third generation computer applications will utilize full motion video and will be used for audio/visual tutorials for training, to provide user-support, and such commercial applications as stock catalogues.
