Abstract: One-way travel time can be improved by dividing warehouses into relatively small number of different regions using a class-based automated storage/retrieval system (AS/RS). Optimal boundaries for the AS/RS can be determined through a one-dimensional solution procedure which allows for the accurate delineation of region boundaries for an AS/RS warehouse.
