Abstract
- An important aspect of any nursing care plan involves anticipating next steps in the treatment plan. In patients with embolic stroke of undetermined source, where the pathophysiological cause of stroke is unknown, the nurse monitors for signs and symptoms of another potential stroke but cannot anticipate additional nursing interventions beyond standard stroke care. When nurses have a greater understanding of the potential mechanisms of the stroke, they can anticipate interventions and teach patients about their condition and follow-up care.
