Abstract

Results reveal that the tetracycline resistance determinant consists of two overlapping genes, tetA(P) and tetB(P) in an operon and are trascribed froma single promoter. Furthermore, T1 terminator is an intrinsic control element of the tet(P) operon, which prevents overexpression of the TetA(P) transmembrane protein in the presence of tetracycline.
