Abstract: Research has been conducted on the gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase which catalyzes ATP-dependent L-Glu and L-Cys ligation. The role of the amino acid residues in the kinetic properties of the substrates in the reaction catalyzed by Trypanosoma brucei gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase has been examined and discussed.
