2-Trimethylsilylethyl sulfides in the von Braun cyanogen bromide reaction: selective preparation of thiocyanates and application to nucleoside chemistry

Research shows that bioactive nucleosides bearing thiocyanate function such as thiocyanates can be derived by cleavage of 2-Trimethylsilylethyl sulfides with cyanogen bromide in methanol. Results indicate that thiocyanates are precursors for nucleoside diphosphates which interfere with the radical reactions at the active site of ribonucleoside diphosphate reductase.
