Conformation-dependent reaction thermochemistry: study of lactones and lactone enolates in the gas phase

Research has been conducted on the lactones' gas-phase acidities. The use of the Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometer in measuring these acidities is discussed and the differential electronic effects and differential strength between the reactant and the product species have been investigated.
