Abstract

The September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center towers in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington D.C. raised the question of whether recognizable structures can be protected against such acts. Contractors and designers agree that the only building that can withstand acts of that magnitude is a containment building at a nuclear power plant.
