Abstract

Researchers show that two genes encoding haloacetate dehalogenases in the soil bacterium Delftia acidovorans are carried in a defective transposon on plasmid pUO1. Normally, these transposons can catalyze their own transposition, but this transposon lacks the transposase and resolvase genes.
