Abstract

Results demonstrate that the Escherichia coli produced cyclohexanone monooxygenase oxidize enantioselectively the 4-mono- and 4,4-disubstituted cyclohexanones completely in a Baeyer-Villiger oxidation reaction. Data indicate that this biocatalytic reagent produces lactones in good yield and optical purity comparable to those generated by the bakers' yeast enzyme.
