Abstract: Results of a study on ocean currents in the Gulf of Mexico's Loop Current are presented. The use of Lagranian analysis revealed characteristics not observed with the Eulerian method. The Loop Current's meander formed a new ring, and a cyclonic eddy cleaved a western anticyclonic ring.
