Abstract
- United Airlines' decision in March 2002 to hold-off on its Avolar fractional business jet ownership program is seen as being deeply disappointing. Initially viewed as heralding a new growth opportunity for the private aviation industry, by lowering the cost of operating and owning a business jet, the move not only raises questions concerning the market for business jets, but also comes as worries have arisen over fractional ownership and questions about its profitability.
