Responses to computer-generated visual stimuli by the male praying mantis, Sphodromantis lineola (Burmeister)

Researchers tested responses of the male praying mantis, Sphodromantis lineola, to computer-generated, square visual stimuli of different sizes to determine the stimulus parameters that impact their striking behavior. Among the findings, males in a low-hunger group were able to visually track linearly moving squares but, with rare exception, did not strike at any.
