Abstract
- Color photographic reduction of Parish of Darlington. Shows towns, streets, railways, buildings, etc.<br />Two papers bound in one volume, 19 & 27 pages, 28 maps (some color) and plans. With 15 page manuscript notice demonstrating different printing methods: electrotype, photographic reduction, hill sketching, hill shading, engraving, lithography, zincography, and anastatic process. And 10 pages of insert at the end of volume. Includes indexes to the Ordnance Surveys of England and Wales, Scotland and Ireland. Bound in brown covers measuring 32.5x22, with "Report of the Ordnance Survey -- 1855-56." stamped in gold on the black leather spine. Treasury minute includes memorandum by Sir Charles Trevelyan, Lord Elcho, and Sir Henry James. Inside front cover: page signed by Henry James, L'General ... 1875. We have two copies of this volume and have combined variant images from both.
