Abstract

Johnny Baker, the foster son of William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody and a star in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, poses in front of a tent with a large group of soldiers and several Native Americans. Another cowboy, possibly William Levi "Buck" Taylor, points a gun toward Baker, who stands in the left midground leaning against a post. William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody stands at the entrance to the tent in the background. A Native American man wearing a feather headdress stands next to Cody. Two large, American flags hang on each side of a stuffed buffalo head mounted above the entrance to the tent. Sioux Chief Red Shirt stands in the left background. Sioux Chief Rocky Bear stands on the right side of the group wearing a feather headdress.
