Abstract

Summaries are given from the reports submitted by the responsible investigators of thirteen research teams in Eastern and Southeastern Asia. These involve discussions of bird migration and distribution in each area with special reference to House Swallows, Brown Shrikes and Ardeids and to migration across mountain ranges. The numbers of birds banded in 1968 are listed. This was 150,000 birds of 798 species bringing the total for the five years of this work to 820,000 birds of 1,060 species. The recovery information is summarized for 180 species based upon 1,762 recovery records. The ectoparasites identified to date from 739 species of birds listing 259 species are discussed. A discussion is given of blood parasitism by Haematozoa, Microfilaria, and Trypanosoma among more than 700 species of birds which have been examined. (Author)
