Abstract

Cu(++) spins in Cu(N03)2.2.5H20 are antiferromagnetically coupled in pairs which experience a weaker antiferromagnetic interpair interaction. The linked pairs appear to form one-dimensional arrays. The magnetic and thermal data are quantitatively described by two models in which pairs form (1) rungs of a ladder; (2) alternate links of a chain. Unusual behavior upon adiabatic magnetization at very low T is also interpretable with these models. (Author)
