Abstract
- The objective of this research program was to investigate the influence of various parameters on the fatigue life of wire rope through well controlled and statistically planned laboratory bend-over-sheave fatigue experiments. Parameters studied included three operating loads for ropes subjected to both simple single-sheave bending and two-sheave reverse bending. A total of 288 rope specimens were cycled to failure, and the results were analyzed statistically to determine which parameters had a significant influence on rope life.
