- Mother standing on a pier with her two young children.<br />"NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Mrs. Mary Alma Smail and her two children, Ian and Kathleen, on the pier at Jersey City, N.J. after their arrival on the Swedish liner Gripsholm today. The Smails, whose home is in Chicago, ILL., were among more than 1200 Americans, who had been prisoners of the Japs and who were brought home on the Gripsholm."--News agency copy.
