Abstract

Text on reverse: "Young Zoot Suiter in Hospital After Shooting! Los Angeles, Calif., At the General Hospital, Vincent Duarte, 15-year-old zoot suiter was confronted by his mother, Mrs. Vera Duarte Trujillo, and his step-father Adolph Trujillo, as he lay on a cot, his legs propped in the air to heal wounds inflicted when a railroad guard shot him after he failed to stop while running away from a stink bombing of an Azusa theater." Stetson Kennedy (1916-2011), writer and civil rights activist, collected these photographs during the course of his career fighting for equality throughout the Southern United States.
