Abstract
- As industries and companies can base their competitiveness on innovation, at the territorial level the regions show a positioning that characterizes them as more or less innovative. The Regional Innovation Scoreboard is a recognized system of indicators of regional positioning in terms of innovation. The objective of this work is to compare European regions with unique economic characteristics regarding their position in innovation. The regions studied are: Vest (Romania), Pomorskie (Poland), Lombardia (Italy), North Brabant (Holland) and Catalonia (Spain). The Regional Innovation Scoreboard is used to evaluate its position in innovation. The method of work followed has been: Tabulate the indicators for each region. Quantitatively analyse the innovation indicators for each region and transfer it to behaviour graphs by region. To propose simple models of representation in relation to the quantitative analysis of indicators and the positioning of each region in relation to the average of the European Union and its own country. Conclusions: regional behaviours according to innovation indicators vary if they are relative to the European Union or to the country itself. The innovative regions present all the indicators above the average, the less innovative only those related to manufacturing.<br />Postprint (published version)
