Evaluation of Anti-inflammatory Potential of Tesalin® on Airway Epithelium and Innate Immune Effector Cells

Herbal drugs have a great potential in the treatment of diseases and are generally more accepted than synthetic drugs. Tesalin® (Ze 339) is used for the treatment of allergic rhinitis. The present study demonstrates a broad anti-inflammatory potential in a viral model and a selective effect on the level of STAT-mediated signal transduction of Ze 339 in human nasal epithelial cells. This could enlarge the field of application in non-allergic rhinitis, sinusitis or other inflammatory diseases.
Pflanzliche Arzneimittel haben ein großes Potential und werden gegenüber synthetischen Medikamenten bevorzugt. Tesalin® (Ze 339) wird zur Behandlung der allergischen Rhinitis eingesetzt. Diese Arbeit zeigt das anti-entzündliche Potential von Ze 339 in einem viralen Model humaner nasaler Epithelzellen. Zusätzlich konnte eine Modulation selektiver STAT-Signalwege festgestellt werden. Diese Kenntnisse legen nahe, dass Ze 339 bei anderen entzündlichen Erkrankungen ebenfalls anti-entzündlich wirken kann.
