Abstract

The emergency determined by the spread of Covid 19 has transformed people's lives both from the family point of view and from significant relationships, as well as at work, changing the relationship between these significant areas for the definition of a person's identity. The aim of the article is to investigate the nature of the relationship between family / private life and work during the lockdown phase. The contribution uses data from a large survey carried out in April 2020 on a sample of workers placed in work from home. There are two central questions to which the contribution intends to answer: what was the relationship between family / private life and work during the lockdown period (conflictual or enriching?) And what are the intervening elements of this relationship? By means of multivariate analysis techniques some models have been tested from whose analysis a prevalence of the conflictual dimension appears, with respect to which personal characteristics (age and educational qualification) seem to predominantly affect, especially in family with under 6 children. The connotation of any factors favoring enrichment is less clear: having children aged between 6 and 13 shows a weak positive influence in terms of enrichment between family and work, while there seems to be a particular relevance of factors external to the family, primarily related to the culture of organizational well-being of the company, assessed through the perception of the utility of the company welfare plans.
