Abstract
- A black-and-white photo that features a cliff with a vein of lignite. The rock of the cliff, primarily light in color, contains a thick, dark band of lignite, or brown coal, near the top of the formation. Because of its status as a low-grade coal, the lignite in this picture presents an example of the types of mineral deposits found in Canada. A river is at the base of the cliff. This formation represents part of the Edmonton Group, known as the Edmonton Formation at the time of the picture, of Alberta, Canada.
