Abstract

The results of an investigation into the processing of middle- to low-grade bauxite with an alumina:silica (A:S) ratio of about 5 showed that the optimum conditions for the first stage were a sintering temperature of 1 100 degrees C and sintering time of 40 minutes. The leaching recovery of Al2O3 was up to 87.99 % under optimum conditions and leaching at 90 degrees C gave an A:S ratio in the leaching solution of over 400. The optimum conditions for the second stage were a sintering temperature of 1 200 degrees C and a sintering time of 40 min. Al2O3 recovery reached 86.04 %. The final recovery of Al2O3 was 98.23 % and the consumption of Na2CO3 was about 11.20 kg/t Al2O3.<br />The results of an investigation into the processing of middle- to low-grade bauxite with an alumina:silica (A:S) ratio of about 5 showed that the optimum conditions for the first stage were a sintering temperature of 1 100 degrees C and sintering time of 40 minutes.
