Abstract
- A fuzzy expert system, DIME, has been developed to assess the risk of coal and gas outbursts in underground mining in Spain. The system fuzzifies input risk indices and groups the information into gas content, ground properties, acoustic emission and coal properties using a fuzzy inference process. These groups will become the third-level fuzzy inputs that assess the outburst risk. Expert rules are introduced at each level. Prevention methods include destressing and gas drainage ahead of the roadway and water injection or blasting to increase the permeability of the coal.<br />A fuzzy expert system, DIME, has been developed to assess the risk of coal and gas outbursts in underground mining in Spain.
