Abstract

Investigations were carried out into the characteristics of the rock surrounding the roadway to be driven along the gob during the mining of a fully mechanised caving face at the Fucun coal mine in China in order to design the optimum support method. A support system consisting of a combination of rock bolting and mesh ladder and rock bolting and rope girder was developed based on the pressure and deformation of the roadway.
