Details are given of the major producers, location and soda ash source (trona, lake brines and synthetic). Operations are described at the Green River Basin trona deposits in Wyoming, and details given of a 1 000 000 tpa synthetic soda ash project being developed in Saudi Arabia.<br />Market demand is outstripping supply for soda ash, particularly in Asia, and there has been significant acquisition and expansion activity.
