Abstract

The study identifies the knowledge that strength training practitioners have on nutritional aspects. Two questionnaires were used to collect data. It was found that 85% of participating subjects never got nutritional recommendations supported by nutritionists and 67% supplement without accompaniment. The subjects showed moderate nutritional knowledge. The results point to a likely correlation between the level of knowledge and level of education. It is advisable to reach the specific audience with actions aimed at quality of information and actions to discuss the role of physical education in relation to nutrition in graduate courses.<br />Objetivou-se identificar o conhecimento que praticantes de treinamento de força têm sobre aspectos nutricionais. Dois questionários foram utilizados na coleta dos dados. Constatou-se que 85% dos sujeitos participantes nunca obtiveram recomendações nutricionais amparadas por nutricionistas e 67% suplementam sem acompanhamento. Os sujeitos manifestaram conhecimento nutricional moderado. Os resultados apontam para uma provável correlação entre o nível de conhecimento e o nível de escolaridade. É conveniente que se atinja o público específico com ações que visem qualidade de informações e ações para discutir o papel da educação física, em relação à nutrição, nos cursos de graduação.
