Abstract

vol. 76 no. 15
Last Friday the faculty presented a check for $5,000 to the United Fund Drive. On behalf of the faculty, Dr. Robert V. Guthrie, center, presented the donation to Quintin Hicks, left, representing the United Fund. The faculty drew this money from a fund they set aside by deducting a certain percentage monthly from their pay checks. Money from this fund also is used for other worthy projects. Head of arrangements from the disbursement of this fund is David Readdick, shown at the above right. Other members of the committee include Rev. Francis Luce and Dr. Derrell Roberts. This fund began in the days when the late Ludd M. Spivey, president emeritus of Florida Southern, was in office. This year the donation to the United Fund increased by $200 over last year's $4,800. (p. 1). Hail The Faculty (p. 2). FSC Senior Sonny Overton, left, student pastor at Eaton Park Methodist Church, is shown with the Rev. R. Eugene Rutland, pastor of College Heights Methodist Church and president of the Lakeland Ministerial Association, discussing plans for Clergy Week which began Feb. 3. Clergy Week is sponsored by Civitan International. (p. 3). Big Mike McCoy, Miami's 7'1" center, goes high in the air to take a rebound in a recent court action. The Hurricans snapped a five game Southern win streak with a 99-83 victory over the Mocs. McCoy dumped in 27 points to pace Miami's high-geared scoring machine. Tim Eisnaugle of Southern also goes up for the ball, but to no avail as Len Wozniak watches the action. (p. 4).
1-4
