The echo in ecl . 6 : thoughts on a virgilian topic

The theme of the echo in Virg. ecl. 6 is developed differently from the other eclogues. It is connected to mythical tales and the poet treats it with great stylistic elegance; these features seem to suggest a relationship of these occurrences with the poetry of Gallus and with a Callimachean taste. But they are in harmony with the structure of the whole book and this creates interesting correspondences with the occurrences of the theme in other poems of the collection.
Le occorrenze del tema dell’eco nell’ecl. 6 presentano caratteristiche diverse da tutte le altre presenze del tema nelle Bucoliche. Relative a vicende mitiche e trattate con particolare cura formale dal poeta, sembrano riconducibili per diverse vie e diversi aspetti alla poesia di Gallo e ad un àmbito di raffinata imitazione callimachea. Pur nella loro singolarità, esse rientrano però nel disegno complessivo dell’opera e creano interessanti rapporti di corrispondenza con il trattamento dell’eco nelle altre ecloghe
