Abstract

This bachelor thesis aims to delve into the emotional responses of young men residing in urban areas in Malmö, to the evolving legal framework, with a specific focus on their legal awareness using relevant legal documents pertaining to recent amendments in the policing legislation (1984:387) regarding the criticized policing method of visitationszoner. The research involved semi structured interviews with seven men aged 18-28 as well as a document analysis on the law referral by the Council on Legislation, the inquiry into the law (Ds 2023:31), different parliamentary motions regarding the new legislation and law referrals by different organizations. It was shown that the men who were interviewed are worried about how the law regulation might impact them. They see a negative potential impact on their person, which aligns with criticism towards the legal regulation through different referral responses and concerns on how the regulation in the police law regarding visitationszoner, might affect peoples right to integrity as well as other freedom of rights expressed in UDHR as well as the European Convention on Human Rights.
