Education and Middle Manpower Development in Thailand.

This paper addresses itself to the problem of long-term manpower development in Thailand. Relevant research studies are discussed in the introduction and the thesis of this report is stated: namely, that for Southeast Asia and developing nations in general, middle manpower development, and the kinds of educational institutions needed for such development (technical colleges, junior colleges, post-secondary vocational schools, business colleges, nursing schools, etc.), should be given top priority in the decade ahead. Section II of the report develops the theme of the importance of middle manpower. Section III discusses the current status of middle manpower in Thailand. Section IV examines the middle manpower supply-demand situation for the 1970's. And section V discusses the need for a new kind of college in Thailand: a system of publicly supported 2-year colleges, which are desperately needed to meet Thailand's manpower needs and economic goals.
