Abstract

The information contained in this report is presented in accordance with the goal to develop by 1975 improved procedures and techniques for the identification, diagnosis, and prescription teaching of exceptional prekindergarten children. The first section of the report is concerned with the analysis of the data collected in the Early Childhood Special Education Survey and from case studies of ten Title VI, ESEA, funded Early Childhood Education demonstration projects throughout the state. The second part of the report is a collection of recent research information on early childhood special education. The information obtained from these surveys should help the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction identify the status of early childhood special education in Illinois and plan for future needs. The report may also provide necessary information to other states who are just beginning to work in this area. (Author/CS)
