Abstract
- Based on the following premise the authors propose a process for the construction of human personality: Each man and woman is a researcher; therefore education is a relationship between a person and the environment which allows a person to master what he or she investigates, and in the course of such investigation a person engages in the process of self-construction. Section 1, containing one chapter, presents a design for an education machine using an electronic computer as an analogue. The machine was proposed to bridge the gap between research and education and to provide a process by which personal knowing through research can be achieved. Section 2, containing six chapters, offers an extended example of an interchange with this education machine on the subject of human personality. The possibility of structure in personality is discussed, including factor analysis, traits, and complexity of interrelationships. Then Ligon's group theory model of personality, based on Super's clusters, is explained. In the final four chapters of this section, the authors analyze the group theory model and present an extended model and its selected implications. Section 3, containing only one chapter, describes the development of a self-machine which would use discoveries from section two as a person-serving prosthetic device for self-controlled construction of personality. This section concludes with a proposal for development of a self research machine game. (BM)
