Abstract

As part of a cooperative extension service series by the University of Maryland, this publication introduces the identification and control of common agricultural pests that can be found in field and forage crops. The first of the five sections defines "pest" and "weed" and generally introduces different kinds of pests in the categories of insects, weeds, and diseases. Also in this section, pest control methods are introduced. The second section is a tabular listing of plant diseases including "description and damage" and "control and management practices" information. The third section is a tabular listing of insect pests including "description and damage,""life cycle," and "control and management practices" information. The fourth section lists the weeds that compete with field and forage crops in Maryland including the same categories of information as the previous section. The fifth section is a collection of line drawings of these weeds. (MR)
