Abstract
- An outline is presented of eight educational survey types that are undertaken at regular intervals by the Research and Statistics Division of the Minister's Secretariat of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture in Japan. Part of a variety of reports on Japanese educational statistics, the survey results are widely utilized as basic data for educational administration. Each reported survey contains a combination of the following: objectives, survey date, survey procedures, survey sheet, date of return of completed survey sheets, totalling, survey items, survey period, and survey objects. The survey types outlined in the paper include: (1) School Basic Survey; (2) Local Educational Administration Survey; (3) Survey on Local Educational Expenditure; (4) Survey on Educational Expenditure by Parents; (5) School Teachers Survey; (6) Social Education Survey; (7) Survey on Financial State of Private Schools; and (8) School Health Examination Survey.
