This how-to manual for the beginning Internet user contains sections on: the authors; an overview of computer networking; Internet basics, including a glossary, information on getting connected and keeping current, and a bibliography; electronic mail, including electronic discussions and electronic journals: Internet Remote Login (Telnet); File Transfer Protocol (FTP), including how to download and translate files; Gopher, including Gopher searching using Veronica and Jughead; the World-Wide Web, including Mosaic, Netscape, and Lynx browsers; and Wide Area Information Servers. Most sections include exercises and a personal preparation checklist.
